A Busy Morning

Progress has been made on Jenna's room!!! Going with the pink, brown and bird theme...here is her first wall hanging.

Let me first mention, I am not a photographer! The picture is made from various sorts of scrapbooking papers. I started off with the idea of ripping every part of the design...and then came the bird, and the scissors! I framed it with a pink ribbon and wha-la. Done.

On another wall of Jenna's room will be a floating white shelf, or two. This little fella will have a home on that shelf....

Bird: Hand and machine sewing. For main fabric, I purchased a set of recieving blankets that coordinated with Jenna's bedding. Button eyes and felt beak.

So, in adding new decor to one part of the home means cleaning out the rest! We are having a big 'ole thift sale here. I am cleaning house. Not more toddler boy stuff here. No more maternity either! Hailey was a huge help this morning cutting my printed price tags. And Jenna supervised!

Legos, Legos, and More Legos

So Jackson LOVES legos. This is his recent purchase. 661 Pieces, approx 6 hours of labor. Most of those hours occurred starting at 6am when he went downstairs to start work before preschool. He carefully follows the directions (or corrections as he calls them) step by step and very intently. And with almost no help from Mom or Dad! (well, I did have to tie a knot!)

We are also very proud of Jackson for completing 9 Laps in the St Jude Trike-A-Thon. He reached his goal!

Changing already? Yes!

Jenna is just over three months old, and yes, I am redecorating her room. I decorated it before she was born (back when we were not 100% positive on the he/she thing) in animals. Kinda boy if you ask me! So now, I am going all girl. It will be pink and brown and cute little birds. More details on that coming in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, I will go back on some previous room decorations that Susie sparked by memory about. When Jackson was 1 1/2 we painted his room in Elmo decor. Stuart went all out! We showed him his room on Christmas morning. He was soooo excited he ran right up to Elmo. Here are some photo of the greatest room in the world!

What ever happened to this room....well, we sold the house and THEY painted over Elmo. I don't think I could have ever painted over it!

I Spy

This creation was inspired by a friend of mine. It is a about a 10 inch by 10 inch fleece pillow with a clear window. The inside is filled with a wide varity of beads and tiny objects. The kiddos set it on their lap and move objects into the window. They just search to see what they can find, or you call out items and they have to find them. I am hoping this will allow hours and hours of fun....well, I can hope!

Crafted Gifts

I LOVE getting gifts that are handmade. People may think that because I craft, I could just make it myself, or maybe I will critique the tiny details of the stitches -- well, not true. I absolutely love the time and love that goes into crafted items. One of Jenna's baby gifts was a hand knit kimono. This kimono was made by my husband's friend and I just love it....and I think Jenna does too! :)

The Making of Lulu

On Thursday morning, while Jackson was at preschool and Jenna asleep, Hailey and I had a little time to create Lulu. Hailey did an excellent job of cutting out the pattern pieces. (Really, I was very, very impressed with her cutting skills!)

After we finished cutting and sewing our creation, I told Hailey we might have to wait a till later to stuff it since we were out of stuffing. She told me she had a jewelery box full of cotton, perfect for a bunny. So she bolted upstairs and came back with her jewelery box (the handpainted one from Mexico) full of stuffing. She was collecting it from a princess pillow that had a hole in it! So bit by bit, she filled up Lulu.

We added a nose, mouth and eyes and Lulu came to life. Hailey was beyond excited to complete the bunny. The second photo here is of her and Lulu outside...Hailey thought the bunny needed to stay warm!

Welcome!

My first post! After thinking and thinking about creating this site, I am finally doing it. Maybe I can keep up, maybe not. Time will tell. This site is a gathering place for updates on the kiddos. For many of you who do not see them too often, I would like to show photos and keep you updated on their lives. As for crafts, this is a huge file folder for me. A place to keep notes, links and photos of projects I am working on. Whether you are here to see the family or check in on my projects (or maybe even both) WELCOME!
